The Stud Dog Social Registration is finally here!
We’re excited to announce that registration for the Stud Dog Social is officially open! The goal of the Stud Dog Social is to broaden our education by seeing dogs up close from other regions and learning how they might enhance breeding programs. While this is a social event, it should be viewed first and foremost as educational. As always, the program continues to evolve each year based on space constraints and member feedback.
Here’s what’s new for 2026:
-
- Our space in Kingsport will be restricted. Because of that, we are going to try something new. To encourage engagement with all the dogs present, we will play “speed dating”, where we will encourage you to move from dog to dog in each hour.
- We ask that only one dog per time block be entered per person. This will ensure safety and also focus on the dog, given the quick times we have available.
- Along with our “Speed dating”, intended to keep people moving and talking, we will also do a “Stud Dog Bingo” game to learn about the dogs and their owners/handlers. Get creative! Think of three things people will only know about your dog if they talk to you. The cards will be available at the event. To complete a Bingo, you will need to visit dogs from all of the categories (ROM, Proven, Up-and-Coming, Frozen). Completed cards will be entered into a raffle for a special prize! and you can play whether you are showcasing a dog or just attending!
- Last year, we got feedback that some people wanted to showcase a dog, and some wanted to also have the opportunity to look at other’s dogs. This year, we will split the social into two 1-hour blocks. There is a limit of 15 dogs in each hour due to the space we have. We will also have a short break between the two groups to allow for an easy transition to the second group.
- There are no restrictions on who can showcase the dog, however to ensure the event is educational, we recommend that the dog be showcased by an owner/co-owner – someone who is familiar with the dog and the line.
To register, we ask that stud dogs:
-
- Post all health testing
- Provide information about their dog/line
- Ensure they are entered into The Breed Archive (we will be using QR codes this year for quicker access to information).
- Provide three fun facts about your stud dog that we can use on the BINGO cards.
The plan is to create a digital stud dog guide, which will also be available after the event.
There will be four categories this year:
-
- ROMs (any level) – Boys with CWCCA ROM designations or 5 litters on the ground
- Proven Boys (Producers): Dogs with at least 2 litters on the ground from bitches outside your kennel
- Up-and-Comers: Dogs meeting readiness indicators: current health testing (target: 2 years old), mentored, titled, and active club participation (noted: 5 years club member)
- Frozen – Dogs that meet the credentials above but not available in person (no restrictions on the number presented here)
Because rear assemblies’ strength has been mentioned by the judges for the last two years, we are also targeting a presentation at the beginning of the Social to talk about rear assemblies, why they are important, and what to look for in a stud dog. (Event details will be published after entries close.)
Registrations for the Stud Dog Social will close Wednesday, May 6th or when all available spaces are filled for the time slot, whichever comes first.
We plan to have a cash bar and finger foods available, so please take a moment to donate to the Stud Dog Social hospitality fund when you have a chance. We will have a Stud Dog Basket to raffle as we did last year.
