| 1 | Question: Under Stud Dog/Brood Bitch it states "none of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class." All three of the dogs/bitches I want to put in stud dog /get are finished, so if I win the stud dog class, I cannot put any of the three dogs/bitches into Best of Breed on Saturday correct?
Answer: This only applies when Stud Dog and Brood Bitch are judged before Best of Breed. |
| 3 | Question: Are dogs allowed at the annual banquet?
Answer: The banquet isn't set up for dogs. Before there's generally a cash bar and people milling around visiting and perusing the silent auction items. |
| 6 | Question: I'm trying to pay for grooming, but cannot. Is the password required, the password for the CWCCA website or for PayPal? It will take neither. I don't get it!
Answer: Accounts and passwords for the National Specialty website are neither your PayPal password nor (necessarily) the same as your member site password. This is a separate website as it has accounts for non-members as well as members. |
| 08 | Question: I may have missed it in the Cardishop, but I would like to purchase a marked catalog.
Answer: We no longer offer the marked catalog for several reasons. Not only is it difficult to find a volunteer to do so, but in the past there was a problem with incorrect marking.
The full catalog with placements will be available on the website after the specialty. |
| 12 | Question: Hi, I will be picking up an adult Cardigan at the National Specialty. I plan on watching several of the events as I will be doing performance with her. My question - are the seminars open to anyone? Do you have to be a member of the National club to attend? Thanks.
Answer: Easy question: yes, the seminars are open to all and no, you don't need to be a CWCCA Member.
Welcome to the world of Cardis! |
| 14 | Question: I tried to place an order to donate to the Welcome Bags. However, it wouldn’t accept my email/username even though it’s the same one I’ve been using for years. Should I just copy my order & send it with a check to you? Thanks, Answer: Please use the forgot password step. We carry over usernames and email addresses from the previous national specialty, but it may not be the same as on the member website. The national specialties are each separate websites as is the member website |
| 15 | Question: I started an order for Grooming, a Catalog, and Logo Wear and now cannot find it to check out. Help! You do need to have an account in order to Check Out and pay. In that way you can review your orders later on the "My Account" step. Your friendly web committee was spending too much time looking up orders for people who checked out as "guest". |
| 17 | Question: How can I get the club to consider a small change to allow us to use ramps in conformation? My age and back issues are making lifting my dogs up on the table prohibitive. At this point I'm depending on someone else to lift them on and off. That holds up the class and is embarrassing. I can see that as an advantage for the slighter ladies and youth too. Would be a lovely nod to becoming ADA compliant too. Answer: For the discussion on ramps please view the Minutes from 4/24/14 and 1/30/16. Also under the drop down for Files and Archives is the tab for Polls. The poll for the use of the ramp within the member club can be found under the heading Use of Ramps for Judging Cardigans. As for accommodations the AKC Dog show Rules and Regulations committee has those already lined out in the rules. Here is the information from the AKC site: Participants with Disabilities – How to Request an Accommodation (https://images.akc.org/pdf/events/performance/participants_with_disabilities.pdf) It is AKC’s desire to make reasonable accommodations in order that exhibitors with disabilities may participate with their dog in AKC events. This process starts by sending a request for accommodation to Heather McManus in AKC’s legal department (HRM@akc.org or (212) 696-8284). The request should specify what accommodation is being requested for which type of event and what rule, regulation or policy needs to be modified in order to participate. The legal department will provide a form which needs to be completed by a physician and returned to the AKC. The AKC considers these requests on a case-by-case basis. When reviewing the request, the AKC is guided by consideration of whether or not the accommodation fundamentally alters the event and does the accommodation provide a significant advantage or disadvantage anyone participating in the event. If an accommodation is provided, the AKC writes a letter to the participant specifying the nature of the accommodation. In essence the accommodation letter waives the normal Rules or Regulations and provides accommodations, and the conditions applying to the accommodations, in order for the individual to handle their dog. Accommodations are specific to the individual involved depending on the nature of the request and the sport. It should not be assumed others can automatically apply these accommodations without an AKC accommodation letter. In order to communicate this information to the host club, the participant must provide the accommodation letter to the event chairperson or secretary. This can be done when entries are submitted or at the start of the event. This allows the club/judges to anticipate the accommodation and facilitates the smooth running of the event. ( https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/sports/disability-accommodation-akc-dog-sports-apply/) As with any event without the AKC Disabilities letter, as you have already mentioned; you can have someone put the dog on the table and take it off. We understand and empathize with you concerning holding up the show. Through the AKC Accommodation letter you can request that the accommodation include a ramp as your accommodation and any AKC show will provide one for you. As for the Nationals please submit your AKC Disability Accommodation Letter to the show chair at least 6 weeks ahead of time so they can meet those accommodations, as we normally do not have a ramp with us and would require time to order and have it delivered. Please know that we are open to meeting your needs as outlined in the AKC Dog Show Rules and Regulations booklet. That booklet can be found at https://images.akc.org/pdf/rulebooks/RREGS3.pdf |
