For the first time since 2019, we be offering Herding Instinct Testing at Purina.
Date: Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
Time 3:00 p.m.
This will be on site at Purina, after sweepstakes. We encourage everyone to come and watch, even if you don’t participate personally. Experienced herding folks will be there to answer any questions. Come and see what our dogs were bred to do!
We plan to have a short demo with commentary before we start to explain what the tester is looking for from your dog. Dogs must be at least 6 mo. old on day of test. Certificates will be awarded to those who pass.
This is a CWCCA instinct test only; it does not qualify the dog for an AKC IT title.
A little extra info for those attending the herding instinct test on Wednesday!
We will meet outside the round pen near the herding arena as you enter Purina (where the big red arrow is on the attached map) at 3:00. We will start with a quick discussion & demo then we will start taking dogs!
Our evaluator is Michael Tull, an experienced herding competitor & dog trainer who works closely with Tracy Parciak of RottiEwe farms (where our herding trial is being held this weekend).
Please bring your dog with a collar, closed toe shoes for you, & anything you may need for the weather (who knows what weather we may have!).
We will determine a running order as you arrive!
